  • Trend: Floral Everything.

Posted Apr 18 // Ashley White

Wearing a floral print during the spring is a time-tested trend. Every year when the weather warms up, we reach for our spring dresses and flower prints sure as the tulips start blooming.

There are lots of floral options right now in the shops, and Towne East Square is the place to find your new favorite spring outfit.

SS-FlowerGirls

1. Floral crochet top (Victoria's Secret)
2. Mixed-media tee dress (Forever21)
3. Floral sheer tee (Express)
4. Vince Camuto chiffon tank (Dillard's)
5. Floral flare dress (Forever21)
6. Belted floral dress (Forever21)
7. Floral slip dress (Express)

A floral dress is classic, and you have several cuts and styles to choose from. If you want length, try this dark floral chiffon dress from Express (1) with a slight high-low hem. Forever21 has you covered from festival-chic fit and flare in this cute blue floral dress (5) to ladylike girls-who-brunch with this belted floral version (6). Want a more casual approach? This mixed-media tee dress is all one piece, but features a floral skirt on the bottom (2).

If all-over floral isn't your thing or you don't want to commit to flowers head-to-toe, try a floral blouse. Victoria's Secret has a boho version with crochet details and a super loose fit (1), Vince Camuto has a pleated tank (4), and Express makes a great floral blouse with sheer panels (3) that would look killer for a night on the town with black skinny jeans and stilettos.

Curious about other spring trends? Check out:

Happy shopping!

You can pick up the products featured above at Express, Victoria's Secret, Forever21, and Dillard's.

  • April Showers.

Posted Apr 14 // Ashley White

April showers bring May flowers- or so the saying goes. I'm okay with some rain if it means the grass will green up and the trees will leaf out. But a girl has to stay chic through the unpredictable spring weather, am I right?

Towne East Square helped me find a list of essentials to keep you dry + stylish this spring.

SS- April Showers

1. Trench coat (Express)
2. Kate Spade umbrella (VonMaur)
3. Diorshow Waterproof mascara (Sephora)
4. Sephora Retractable Waterproof eyeliner (Sephora)
5. Hunter rain boots (VonMaur)
6. Kate Spade striped crossbody purse (VonMaur)

Investing in a trench coat is a must- but you don't have to go the route of your grandmother (or even go with classic khaki). This gorgeous blue trench from Express (1) is a little boxy and cropped, which gives it a very modern feel. You earn style points + your outfit stays protected from the rain.

We all have umbrellas, yes, of course. But the real question is do we have cute umbrellas? I absolutely love this clear Kate Spade version (2). The sassy little "Rain check?" conversation bubble is irresistible.

Rain boots are another spring must. I hate trudging into the office through rain puddles when I'm wearing a pair of ballet flats or stilettos- you end up with wet shoes and rain splatter all over your skirt or trousers. Slipping on a rain boot protects you from that mess (and saves your shoes!), and these red patent wellies from Hunter (5) are the perfect boot for the job. How amazing is the red color? Bonus: slip these on over skinny jeans for weekend errands, rain or shine.

A crossbody purse in classic black and white stripes is a great accessory, but when it comes in water-resistant nylon? Sign me up! I love this bag from Kate Spade (6). It's big enough to get you through the day, but still small enough it doesn't feel like you're carrying luggage.

Finally, make sure your eye makeup stays put in the event of a spring shower with waterproof liner and mascara. I love Sephora's eyeliner- this smoky brown is a great go-to color for day (4). Dior's Diorshow mascara is iconic, and thankfully comes in a won't-budge-all-day waterproof formula (3).

Happy shopping and happy spring!

You can pick up the products featured above at Express, VonMaur, and Sephora.

  • Trend: Bomber Jackets.

Posted Mar 7 // Ashley White

Jackets make sense for Spring from a practical standpoint, as you know. Winter might be (nearly) over, but that doesn't mean it's full-on tank top season just yet.

The runways for Spring 2014 took jackets to the next level: we saw prints, candy-colored leather, and the return of the bomber jacket.

I hunted the racks at Towne East Square to find a few versions for you. Any one (or two!) of these jackets freshen up your wardrobe and get you in that spring set of mind.

SS- Bomber Babes

1. Perforated bomber jacket (Express)
2. Kensie printed-sleeve bomber jacket (Dillard's)
3. Knit-sleeved bomber jacket (Forever21)
4. Floral bomber jacket (Victoria's Secret)
5. Aztec-printed bomber jacket (Forever21)

A jacket can change the way an outfit feels. I love to add a loud + busier jacket to a fairly simple outfit (such as a t-shirt and jeans) to elevate the look. Adding this killer Aztec print bomber (5), this gorgeous floral jacket (4), or this black version with geometric-printed sleeves (2) to a t-shirt and jeans combo will really up the style ante.

For a sportier feel, this bomber with knit sleeves (3) is a winner. I love how it's just a bit on the cropped side, as well. And for the look and feel of the classic varsity jacket, this color-blocked black and white bomber (1) is a smash with everything from your work trousers to your weekend denim.

So how else to style a bomber jacket? Treat it as you would a leather jacket: you can work it with boyfriend jeans and a v-neck t-shirt, or with a little black dress and heels. Maxi dresses and bomber jackets? Yes, most definitely. And when the weather really heats up (think June and July), these jackets will be perfect to toss on over a thin camisole to keep you goosebump-free during those cooler nights and evenings.

Happy shopping!

  • Trend: Faux Fur.

Posted Jan 20 // Ashley White

Hello there, Winter Blues. Anyone else feeling a little tired of the cold? Winter is here for a while longer (the official countdown is 58 days until spring), and I'm already looking to mix up my standard boots-and-a-sweater uniform. So what's a girl to do when she needs to stay warm and stylish? Faux fur.

Modern faux fur is super lux and way more realistic than its 80's counterparts. And talk about cozy- I rely on my faux fur vest to keep me toasty several times a week!

So how can you work the faux fur trend? Towne East Square has several places for you to score faux fur.

SS- Snuggle Up in Faux Fur

1. Short faux fur looped scarf (Express)
2. Vince Camuto faux calf hair jacket (Dillard's)
3. Hooded faux fur vest (Aeropostale)
4. Oxblood faux fur vest (American Eagle)
5. Faux fur keyhole scarf (VonMaur)

If you just want to test drive the faux fur trend, a scarf or snood is good place to start. You can find 'em everywhere right now, but I really love this leopard print scarf (1) from Express and this longer keyhole scarf (5) from VonMaur. So easy- just slip one on with a lightweight sweater or a long-sleeved t-shirt and you're ready to go.

For those wanting to take the trend a bit further, consider a faux fur vest or jacket. This cream version (3) from Aeropostale has a casual vibe; I see it with leggings, tall boots, and a turtleneck. Jackets are this girl's best friend;  I love this sporty faux calf hair jacket from Dillard's. And your faux fur doesn't have to be black or white- a burgundy vest will go a long way in your wardrobe, I promise. I love this gorgeous piece (4) from American Eagle because you can dress it up or down. With a little black dress and heels, or with jeans and tee as shown in the collage above.

Did you miss the last Trend installment? You can find it right here; we covered the huge plaid trend.

Happy shopping!

Faux fur keyhole scarf (VonMaur)</p> <p> If you just want to test drive the faux fur trend, a scarf or snood is good place to start. You can find &#39;em everywhere right now, but I really love this leopard print scarf (1) from <strong>Express </strong>and this longer keyhole scarf (5) from <strong>VonMaur</strong>. So easy- just slip one on with a lightweight sweater or a long-sleeved t-shirt and you&#39;re ready to go.</p> <p> For those wanting to take the trend a bit further, consider a faux fur vest or jacket. This cream version (3) from <strong>Aeropostale </strong>has a casual vibe; I see it with leggings, tall boots, and a turtleneck. Jackets are this girl&#39;s best friend; &nbsp;I love this sporty faux calf hair jacket from <strong>Dillard&#39;s</strong>. And your faux fur doesn&#39;t have to be black or white- a burgundy vest will go a long way in your wardrobe, I promise. I love this gorgeous piece (4) from <strong>American Eagle</strong>&nbsp;because you can dress it up or down. With a little black dress and heels, or with jeans and tee as shown in the collage above.</p> <p> Did you miss the last Trend installment? <a href="http://stylesetter.simon.com/blog/ashley-white/trend-plaid" target="_blank">You can find it right here; we covered the huge plaid trend.</a></p> <p> Happy shopping!</p> <p> <em>You can pick up the products featured above at Express, Dillard&#39;s, American Eagle, and VonMaur.</em></p> <p> &nbsp;</p> http://www.simon.com/mall/towne-east-square/stream/trend-faux-fur.-1032076 30 daysTowne East SquareWomen's Everyday Fashion

  • Trend: Midi Lengths.

Posted Apr 7 // Ashley White

Midi length skirts and dresses have been popping up in stores for a few months now. A mini skirt is fun, but sometimes a longer length is necessary for venues like the office, family brunch, or a spring wedding. Full midi skirts really kick up the romantic + feminine vibe, while body con midi skirts provide the same effect as a mini while showing a little less leg.

I worked with Forever21 and Express at Towne East Square to bring you a fresh crop of midi length skirts (and one dress for good measure).

SS- Midi Madness

1. Midi skirt with faux leather trim (Express)
2. Striped midi-dress (Express)
3. Daisy body con midi skirt (Forever21)
4. Color block striped midi skirt (Forever21)
5. Striped midi skirt (Express)
6. Lace midi skirt (Forever21)

What I love about this trend is that it can range from pretty and ladylike to super femme fatale. If girly and light is your thing, try on this gorgeous coral lace skirt (6) from Forever21. Another option is the classic full black midi skirt- perfect for twirling. I like this Express version with its faux leather trim at the waist (1). I would style both of these skirts with a classic solid t-shirt (cropped if you dare), or a chambray shirt knotted at the waist to cinch everything in.

If bold is more your bag, you've got a few options. Bold prints from Forever21 in the form of black and blue stripes (4) or a happy daisies (3) make a statement. If you're a fan of the body con trend, Express has you covered with this black and white striped midi pencil skirt (5) or this killer striped dress (2). You can work both at the office with a blazer or denim jacket, then shed the outer layer for happy hour with friends.

Adding a few midi skirts to your wardrobe will update your closet and get you ready for spring. And speaking of trends, catch up on what you missed:

Happy shopping!

You can pick up the products featured above at Forever21 and Express.

  • Shoes for Now, Shoes for Spring.

Posted Feb 17 // Ashley White

Winter doldrums- who else is with me? I'm more than ready for spring weather but from the looks of the current forecast, I'm going to have to sit tight.

While we wait for the snow to melt, let's talk shoes. It's too early to start shopping for spring sandals, but you can pick up a few pairs of new kicks now that you can wear mid-February all the way through May and beyond.

Towne East Square has you covered from shiny wellies to super cute booties:

SS- Wear Now and Later

1. Hunter rain boots (VonMaur)
2. Vince Camuto leather cut-out booties (Dillard's)
3. Vince Camuto leopard print booties (Dillard's)
4. Jeffrey Campbell leather booties (VonMaur)
5. Coach suede booties (Coach)

Every girl need a good rain boot in her closet. Nobody does wellies quite like Hunter, and I love this gorgeous purple color (1). Thick, durable rubber with a solid tread means you can wear them now in the slush + snow, as well as during an April thunderstorm.

I like to add a little toughness to my outfits, and a great way to achieve this is with a bad girl bootie. Jeffrey Campbell gets it right with this matte black leather bootie featuring deep side cuts and a bit of a heel (4). I'll wear these now with jeans, and later with spring dresses to add some edge.

Vince Camuto provides a little femme fatale in the form of a pointed-toe bootie with cool cut outs (2) and a calf-hair leopard bootie (3). For now, these are great with super dark skinny jeans. Later, you can wear them with your little black dresses.

Neutral suede with laser cuts, a stacked heel, and fringe detail? This Coach bootie is boho perfection (5). I love it now with basic denim and leggings, and will wear it later with boyfriend shorts, cuffed chinos, and spring skirts.

There you have it, a few shoes to beat the winter blues. Happy shopping!

You can pick up the products featured above at Dillard's, Von Maur, and Coach.

  • Travel Smart + Beautiful.

Posted Mar 25 // Ashley White

It's definitely spring break season. No more teachers, no more books- at least for a week or so. It's to jump on a plane (or in a car) and head to someplace warm + relaxing to recharge the batteries.

Whether you're headed to the beach or the big city, your bag should be stocked with beauty items to keep your routine in tact without breaking those baggage weight limits requirements.

I hunted around at Sephora at Towne East Square and found a varsity squad of beauty essentials + multi-tasking products to keep you looking and feeling your best on the road.

SS- Spring Break 1 SS- Spring Break 2

1. Boscia blotting papers
2. Laura Mercier Flawless Face kit
3. Sephora Collection Hamptons travel brush set
4. Jack Black SPF 25 lip balm
5. Michael Kors rollerball perfume and lip gloss duo
6. Too Faced Glamour To Go palette
7. Peter Thomas Roth instant mineral sunscreen SPF 45
8. Oscar Blandi dry shampoo
9. Sephora face wipes
10. Clinique Dramatically Different moisturizer
11. Living Proof No Frizz travel kit
12. Sephora Collection mini manicure kit
13. Sephora Collection cosmetics bag
14. Sephora Collection cosmetics weekender

Traveling means paring down your beauty items to just the essentials. You don't need to bring every cheek color you have in your vanity, or every styling tool you own. Remember: palettes and travel kits are a girl's best friend.

Starting with the face, you have to get the foundation right- even on vacation! A kit like this version from Laura Mercier (2) has you covered from base to concealer in one handy kit. For color, a makeup palette with eye shadows and blushes is what you're looking for. I love this palette from Too Faced (6) because it offers both classic colors that will work for day and a few options to amp up the glamour at night via a smokier eye. Lip gloss is important, but you don't need to bring 15 glosses! Remember- it's vacation! I love this perfume and gloss duo from Michael Kors (5). Look good, smell good. A set of quality travel brushes in bright colors in a cute + convenient travel case (3) is a great investment, as well.

Cleanse your face each night with travel-friendly face wipes (9) and follow up with a lightweight moisturizer in a smaller size, like this lotion from Clinique (10). A kit like the Living Proof No Frizz (11) set is great for travel not only for its size, but for the ability of the product to keep frizzy hair at bay- this is essential for those of us with wavy/curly hair visiting a more humid area for spring break, like the beach! The shampoo, conditioner, and styling cream do most of the heavy-lifting for you. After using this kit, you can heat style if you wish, or just let your hair air dry. The frizz control is that powerful!

You want to have products and tools handy to fix little beauty problems. Hangnails, rough edges, and chipped polish can be taken care of with a mini manicure kit (12). Shiny T-zone? Blotting papers (1) fit easily in your purse and keep you shine-free all day long. Prolong a blowout or sop up excess oil with a good dry shampoo (8)- because who wants to spend time in the bathroom fixing their hair while on vacation? Keep burns and sunspots at bay by having SPF products nearby, like a hydrating lip balm (4) and a mineral sunscreen. This SPF powder from Peter Thomas Roth (7) is a great purchase because the SPF protection is instantaneous and you don't have to deal with the white residue + telltale sunscreen smell.

Store everything beauty related in a set of cosmetic cases, like these fun printed versions from Sephora (13, 14).

More travel + beauty tips:

  • Wrap items you're afraid might leak in transit inside plastic sandwich and/or ziploc bags. I also store a few clean empties in various pockets of my suitcase for the trip back. This keeps your other products clean, and your clothing + shoes safe from a leaky shampoo, for example.
  • Bring hand cream, lip balm, and face wipes on the flight with you. An anti-bacterial gel is a good grab, also. Hand cream and lip balm keep your skin hydrated (the air on planes is so dry), anti-bac keeps your hands germ-free, and face wipes are great for on-the-go cleansing when your skin feels oily, tired, or just gross from a day of travel.
  • Bring a lightweight scarf or pashmina. You can wrap up in it if you get cold during the flight, or use it as a pillow if you want to sleep. When you land, loop it around your neck a few times and hit the terminal.
  • You can pare down your daily/nightly skin care routine. No need to bring heavy creams (especially if you're going somewhere super warm + humid), exfoliators, peels, etc. A one-week break from your normal regime isn't going to do any harm, plus it'll save you valuable space in your suitcase. Boil your routine down to cleansing and moisturization (if necessary, toss in an eye cream and a product that targets a skin issue you have, such as acne, rosacea, etc.).

Happy spring break!

  • St. Patrick's Day Chic.

Posted Mar 14 // Ashley White

St. Patrick's Day is just around the corner. Do you have your outfit planned? If not, I encourage you swap the traditional bright green for a softer, more spring-friendly mint to get your Irish on.

Towne East Square has you covered with a full St. Patrick's Day look that is not only perfect to grab drinks with your friends at the pub on March 17th, but all spring long.

SS- Chic for St. Pat's

1. Leather jacket (Victoria's Secret)
2. Gray skinny jeans (Express)
3. Striped t-shirt (Express)
4. Mint green polish (Sephora)
5. Leather ballet flats (VonMaur)
6. Statement necklace (Express)

Build your St. Patrick's Day outfit with a few staples: skinny jeans (2) and a striped tee (3). I love the light gray color of the Express skinnies- so perfect for spring. And you cannot go wrong adding a few striped t-shirts to your closet. Next, top the outfit with a beautiful mint-colored leather jacket in a fun moto style, like this version from Victoria's Secret (1). A pair of classic leather Frye ballet flats (5) will keep you comfy but stylish, and a statement necklace from Express (6) is a nice touch to add more interest to the outfit. Finally, a mint green manicure (4) with this lovely Illamasqua polish means that even if you take the jacket off, you're still wearing green (no pinching allowed!). Better safe than sorry!

After St. Patrick's Day, you can repurpose that leather jacket with everything from light spring dresses to your destroyed boyfriend jeans.

Happy St. Paddy's!

You can pick up the products featured above at Sephora, VonMaur, Express, and Victoria's Secret.

  • A Stylish Tournament Season.

Posted Mar 10 // Ashley White

It's officially March, which means March Madness has begun! The culmination of the college basketball season is here, which means lots of hours holed up restaurants, cheering on our favorite teams, and snacking on buffalo wings.

Who says that supporting your team all the way to the Final Four means you have to sacrifice style? You won't hear that from this girl, and my friends at Towne East Square agree- so we hunted around for some cute outfits that hit the spirit marks (in the school colors of the Kansas Jayhawks and the Wichita State Shockers, but you can recreate these looks with your own alma mater's colors to get the same effect).

SS- Stylish March Madness

1. Striped top (Forever21)
2. Statement necklace (Express)
3. Boat shoes (VonMaur)
4. High rise ankle jeans (Express)
5. Racer back tank (Express)
6. Boyfriend jeans (Express)
7. Ankle booties (Coach)
8. Lightweight scarf (Forever21)

Put away those tattered jerseys and hoodies from your college days (or save 'em for Saturday mornings sipping coffee on the couch), because you can be both spirited and stylish with the outfits above.

For the first outfit, I've styled a slightly dressier feel (while keeping everything comfortable- this is, after all, just a basketball game). Take a pair of high-waisted jeans with a cropped ankle (4) and pair with a cute top in one of your school colors, like this blue and white striped version (1). Next up are boat shoes (3) in a fun color. I rely on these shoes all spring and summer long- they're super comfy and just a bit more snappy than your average sneakers. A statement necklace (2) works in a little more color, which is another opportunity to show your school spirit.

For the second outfit, I wanted to hit that relaxed + boho vibe. Slightly slouchy, destroyed boyfriend jeans (6) are a solid choice, worn with a simple racer back tank (5). Neutral suede ankle booties (7) look great with cuffed denim (and check out the cute fringe detail!), and a lightweight scarf (8) in one of your school colors top off the outfit.

Worried about catching a chill? Both of these outfits work well with a basic blazer, leather jacket, or denim jacket thrown over the top. I love that these looks allow you all the comfort of a simple t-shirt with some bonus styling elements, and are versatile enough that you won't need an outfit change if you decide to go out after the game. Score!

Happy March Madness!

You can find the products featured above at Coach, Forever21, Express, and VonMaur.

  • Insta-Ash: Classic Red Lip.

Posted Feb 3 // Ashley White

You'd be hard pressed to find another beauty trend more iconic than the classic red lip. It's the beauty equivalent of the exclamation point.

The founder of NARS cosmetics, Francois Nars, has this to say about red lipstick:

"You cannot be a wallflower and wear red lipstick. No, you have to put yourself out there."

So very true, don't you think? Girls who want to blend in don't swipe on red lips. Standing out in a crowd can be fun!

It takes a little work, however, because a red lip isn't effortless. But that doesn't mean it's not attainable. It just takes the right products and some practice.

Here are my products for creating a classic red lip, which can be found at the Sephora at Towne East Square.

SS- Classic Red Lip

1. NARS Lipliner Pencil in Jungle Red
2. Bite Beauty High Pigment Matte Lip Pencil Cranberry
3. Make Up Forever Lip Line Perfector
4. Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder

  • Start with a clean lip, and run the Make Up Forever pencil (3) around the outside of your lips. This clear liner creates a barrier so that your red lip doesn't wander/feather as the day or night wears on.
  • Line the entire lip with the NARS lip pencil (1). Fill the entire lip in lightly, using your finger to smudge the color into place.
  • Use the Bite Beauty lip crayon (2) to swipe on a layer of color. Blot with a tissue.
  • Take a fresh tissue, pull it apart so you are holding a single sheet, and hold this over lips.
  • Use the Tarte powder (4) + a fluffy brush to powder your lips through the single ply piece of tissue.
  • Remove the tissue, swipe on another layer of the Bite Beauty crayon.

What's all this business with the tissue, you ask? Well, you're layering on color at each stage and setting it (smudging the lip liner, blotting with the tissue, using the powder, etc.), which keeps the color in place for hours and hours without you having to reapply. It also means that your touch-ups will be very minor, because you won't have to build the lip from scratch.

Now get to practicing. :)    You can find the products featured above at Sephora.

  • Trend: Leather.

Posted Jan 29 // Ashley White

Leather jackets are a classic staple in any wardrobe, but leather has been creeping its way into other areas of your closet to become a big trend this fall and winter. I linked up with Towne East Square to find some new + unexpected ways to wear leather.

I've picked faux options because a) faux leather has come a long way in terms of quality, and b) faux leather is way easier on your wallet.

Bonus: these pieces aren't just for winter, they'll be able to fit into your spring wardrobes, as well.

SS- Leather Trend

1. T Tahari dress with faux leather trim  (VonMaur)
2. Vince Camuto faux leather t-shirt (Dillard's)
3. Blazer with faux leather trim (The Limited)
4. Faux leather paneled skirt (The Limited)
5. Striped jacket with faux leather sleeves (Express)
6. Scuba leggings (Express)

You can update your classic little black dress or office-friendly frock by choosing a piece with leather accents, like this T Tahari dress (1). Great way to boost your work wardrobe, and dresses like these transition really well to after-work events like happy hours + date nights. A leather skirt with a flirty hemline like this one from The Limited (4) is perfect for a night on the town- girl's night out, here you come. Wear it now with tights (as shown), or go bare-legged in the spring.

The Limited's blazer with faux leather lapels (3) goes with anything from your LBD to jeans and a tee. The same goes for an amazing striped jacket with faux leather sleeves from Express (5). It's the perfect statement piece to top off an outfit.

A simply cut t-shirt gets a style upgrade in the form of a faux leather front (2), like this tee from Vince Camuto. I would wear this t-shirt everywhere: to the office with a pair of classic trousers, on a date night with a mini skirt and pumps, or while running errands in boyfriend jeans and flats. Another faux leather wardrobe workhorse are these leggings from Express (6). Wear them just as you would standard leggings; they're leggings with an edge.

Want to catch up on other trend coverage? Trend: Plaid and Trend: Faux Fur are waiting.

Happy shopping!

You can pick up the products featured above at VonMaur, The Limited, Dillard's, and Express.

  • Get Lippy.

Posted Apr 9 // Ashley White

Nothing rings in spring quite like a little beauty haul, am I right? I always feel ready for a new season after I've picked up a few goodies in the latest + greatest colors.

Sephora at Towne East Square is my go-to for all things makeup, and they've helped me pick a list of the best lip colors and formulas for spring.

SS- Get Lippy

1. Buxom Full-On Lip Polish in Karen
2. Sephora Rouge Infusion Lip Ink in No. 9 Orange Elixir
3. Urban Decay Naked Ultra Nourishing Lip Gloss in Streak
4. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Rollergirl
5. Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon in Satsuma

There's a little something for everyone on this list. Looking to plump up your pout? Buxom is the gloss for you- it has a tingling effect that plumps up lips and a wide range of color choices. I love this pretty cotton candy pink color (1).

If you want nourishing color, pick up the Urban Decay Naked gloss (3). It glides on super smooth and has vitamin E, avocado oil, and shea butter to soften your lips.

For girls who want to go bright, the Bite Beauty (5) lip crayons glide on like a dream and have a matte finish (plus a yummy citrus scent). I love this hot pink- such a fun classic lip!

Lip stains are a fun way to try a wash of color with some serious staying power. Grab a tube of Sephora Rouge Infusion- they swipe on like gloss, and then dry into a stain. I'm all about this juicy orange color, too (2), as it'll take you through spring and summer.

Speaking of bold colors, you've been hearing since the beginning of the year that the official color of 2014 is radiant orchid- how about a lip color in that shade? Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (4) makes a lip tar in this fun color (which combines the ease of a lip gloss with the lasting power of a lipstick).

Want your manicure to be as fresh as your lipstick? I covered a few fun polish colors for spring right here.

  • New in Nails.

Posted Mar 20 // Ashley White

Spring is officially here! Today marks the first day of the new season, and we're celebrating here on the Style Setter blog with some bright + fresh spring manicures.

Sephora at Towne East Square has the hottest nail colors for the upcoming spring season. Let's dig in!

SS- New in Nails.

1. NARS nail polish in Schiap
2. NARS nails polish in Trouville
3. Julep Color Treat polish in Yumi
4. Deborah Lippmann nail lacquer in Between the Sheets
5. Sephora Color Hit nail polish in Red Berry Smoothie
6. Butter London nail lacquer in Fiver
7. Deborah Lippmann nail lacquer in Tip Toe Through the Tulips
8. Julep Color Treat polish in Carol

Radiant orchid is Pantone's color of the year for 2014, so it makes perfect sense to try on some fuchsia polish. Sephora's Red Berry Smoothie (5) is gorgeous (and only $5!) and a deeper shade of orchid, while Deborah Lippmann's Between the Sheets (4) is a touch lighter.

Mint is a big trend right now; I'm seeing mint-colored everything and I'm loving it. Why not try a mint manicure? Butter London's Fiver (6) is a great shade to get you started. Take it to the next level by painting one finger with a glitter polish, like Julep's Yumi (3).

Want to keep things simple? You can't go wrong with a classic manicure in either a fresh nude or a pale pink. NARS Trouville (2) is a lovely baby pink while Deborah Lippmann's Tip Toe Through the Tulips (7) has a lock on the nude shade. I've been wearing Tip Toe Through the Tulips for weeks on end now- it's the perfect nude, I'm convinced.

If you're wanting go a bit brighter, nothing beats a hot pink or coral color. NARS Schiap (1) is one of my favorite manicure (and pedicure!) shades, and Julep's Carol (8) polish is a perfect coral color that looks fresh now and through the summer.

  • Super Smooth.

Posted Feb 24 // Ashley White

End of February is the unofficial end of winter for me. While the temperatures don't always cooperate with my theory, the light at the end of the winter tunnel is bright (and smells like tulips).

What better way to ready yourself for spring than to scrub away all that dull, dry, flaky winter skin? Sephora at Towne East Square is on top of this beauty mission:

SS- Super Smooth

1. Soap 'n Glory Scrub 'Em and Leave 'Em body scrub
2. Diamoncel Diamond File for foot calluses
3. Laura Mercier Flawless Skin face polish
4. Peter Thomas Roth Blemish Buffing Beads for face and body
5. Tarte Maracuja lip exfoliant
6. Dermadoctor KP Duty scrub
7. Clarisonic Mia 2 face brush and scrub

Head-to-toe smoothing starts with the feet. I know my feet are aching for a pedicure after months and months shoved into thick socks + boots. A diamond file from Diamoncel (2) can really amp up your pedicure game; use this paddle to file off calluses. Hello, soft heels!

For the body, you can use a basic scrub like this version from Soap 'n Glory (1) or you can go the Peter Thomas Roth route (4) if your skin is prone to blemishes. (Bonus: you can use the Peter Thomas Roth on your face, too!) If you have keratosis pilaris (also called "chicken skin", and refers to those little white bumps that can appear on the backs of the arms and thighs), KP Duty by Dermadoctor (6) is a great way to smooth things out.

Next up: your gorgeous face. You can use a face polish, like this version from Laura Mercier (3), which smells incredible and is gentle on the skin. Another tool beauty junkies are loving are face brushes, like this Clarisonic Mia (7). Tools like these use sonic technology and battery-powered brushes to clean deeper and more effectively, leaving you with bright skin that is six times more clean than if you had just washed with your hands.

Don't forget the lips- they need a little love, too. Use an emollient lip scrub like this version from Tarte (5), which is packed with maracuja oil. I've talked about how amazing Tarte's maracuja oil is before- after the sugar-based scrub removes dry skin, the oil hydrates the lip and helps encourage cell recovery. After this, your pout will be more than ready for pretty spring lipsticks.

Happy buffing!

<p> End of February is the unofficial end of winter for me. While the temperatures don&#39;t always cooperate with my theory, the light at the end of the winter tunnel is bright (and smells like tulips).</p> <p> What better way to ready yourself for spring than to scrub away all that dull, dry, flaky winter skin? <strong>Sephora</strong> at <a href="http://www.simon.com/mall/towne-east-square" target="_blank"><strong>Towne East Square</strong></a> is on top of this beauty mission:</p> <a href="http://www.polyvore.com/ss_super_smooth/set?.embedder=1381841&amp;.svc=copypaste&amp;id=113051906" target="_blank"><img alt="SS- Super Smooth" border="0" height="578" src="http://cfc.polyvoreimg.com/cgi/img-set/.sig/KWiY2Kju0yfKHhpZ2MCe8w/cid/113051906/id/Nkj9OnKS4xGfPSvMO-wIHA/size/c550x578.jpg" title="SS- Super Smooth" width="550" /></a> <p> 1. Soap &#39;n Glory Scrub &#39;Em and Leave &#39;Em body scrub<br /> 2. Diamoncel Diamond File for foot calluses<br /> 3. Laura Mercier Flawless Skin face polish<br /> 4. Peter Thomas Roth Blemish Buffing Beads for face and body<br /> 5. Tarte Maracuja lip exfoliant<br /> 6. Dermadoctor KP Duty scrub<br /> 7. Clarisonic Mia 2 face brush and scrub</p> <p> Head-to-toe smoothing starts with the feet. I know my feet are aching for a pedicure after months and months shoved into thick socks + boots. A diamond file from <strong>Diamoncel</strong> (2) can really amp up your pedicure game; use this paddle to file off calluses. Hello, soft heels!</p> <p> For the body, you can use a basic scrub like this version from <strong>Soap &#39;n Glory</strong> (1) or you can go the <strong>Peter Thomas Roth</strong> route (4) if your skin is prone to blemishes. (Bonus: you can use the Peter Thomas Roth on your face, too!) If you have keratosis pilaris (also called &quot;chicken skin&quot;, and refers to those little white bumps that can appear on the backs of the arms and thighs), KP Duty by <strong>Dermadoctor</strong> (6) is a great way to smooth things out.</p> <p> Next up: your gorgeous face. You can use a face polish, like this version from Laura Mercier (3), which smells incredible and is gentle on the skin. Another tool beauty junkies are loving are face brushes, like this <strong>Clarisonic Mia</strong> (7). Tools like these use sonic technology and battery-powered brushes to clean deeper and more effectively, leaving you with bright skin that is six times more clean than if you had just washed with your hands.</p> <p> Don&#39;t forget the lips- they need a little love, too. Use an emollient lip scrub like this version from <strong>Tarte</strong> (5), which is packed with maracuja oil. <a href="http://stylesetter.simon.com/blog/ashley-white/moisture-boost" target="_blank">I&#39;ve talked about how amazing Tarte&#39;s maracuja oil is before</a>- after the sugar-based scrub removes dry skin, the oil hydrates the lip and helps encourage cell recovery. After this, your pout will be more than ready for pretty spring lipsticks.</p> <p> Happy buffing!</p> <p> <em>You can pick up the products featured above at Sephora.</em></p> http://www.simon.com/mall/towne-east-square/stream/super-smooth.-1085850 Beauty TipsTowne East Square
  • Trend: Embellished Sweatshirts.

Posted Feb 10 // Ashley White

Don't you love it when fashion and comfort come together? If I can be cozy and also stay stylish, color me a happy fashion camper.

One of the latest trends to marry fashion + comfort? Embellished sweatshirts. Not your average high school hoodies, these versions have a little something extra to make them fashion-forward. I've shopped Towne East Square to compile a list of my favorites.

SS- Sweatshirts

1. Sequined sweatshirt (Victoria's Secret)
2. Mustache + sequined sweatshirt (Forever 21)
3. Baroque pattern sweatshirt (Forever 21)
4. Vince Camuto sweatshirt with embellished neckline (Dillard's)
5. Wild tiger sweatshirt (Forever 21)
6. Famous graphic sweatshirt (Express)

What I love most about this trend is the variety of embellishment types available. Love sequins? Try on this sequined stripe version from Victoria's Secret (1) or this super cute sequined mustache pullover from Forever 21 (2). If you're feeling a bit rock star chic, snag this "Famous" sweatshirt from Express (6) or this sweatshirt with a killer wild tiger print from Forever 21 (5). And if you're into more ladylike + subtle pieces, a simple baroque print sweatshirt from Forever 21 (3) and a gray Vince Camuto sweatshirt with a decorative neckline (4) might be more your speed.

So how to style this trend? You have several options.

  • My favorite is with a pair of much-loved skinny jeans or leggings, and simple ankle booties or flats.
  • If you're looking for a way to wear this trend to the office, try a lightweight embellished sweatshirt layered under a simple black blazer with a pair of trousers.
  • Want to wear your sweatshirt for happy hour? Scrunch up the sleeves, grab an armful of fun bangles and statement bracelets, and slip on a pair of sky-high pumps.

Curious about other trends covered here? Check out my coverage of the leather, plaid, and faux fur trends.

Happy shopping!

  • Moisture Boost.

Posted Jan 24 // Ashley White

Winter is tough on your skin- as evidenced by my currently super dry cuticles and chapped lips. Between the biting cold and the freezing wind, my skin needs moisture and fast to make it intact to spring.

We've talked about starting a solid skin care routine to keep your skin healthy, clear, and glowing, but what can you do when you have a particular skin problem? In this case, seriously dry skin.

Sephora at Towne East Square has all the remedies for my winter skin woes. Let's check out my haul:

SS- Moisture Boost

1. Bliss High Intensity Hand Cream
2. Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Intensive Hand Cream
3. Boscia Luminizing Black Mask
4. Rosebud Perfume Co. Rosebud Salve
5. Soap & Glory Heel Genius Foot Cream
6. Fresh Sugar Lip Polish
7. Tarte Pure Maracuja Oil

Dry, cracked hands and cuticles are (best case) not cute and (worst case) quite painful. Slathering on a good hand cream a few times a day (especially after all that frequent hand-washing you should be doing to keep the cold and flu viruses at bay!) will help soothe your skin. What I look for in a hand cream: non-greasy feel, ultra-hydrating, and a great (but not overpowering) scent. These creams from Bliss (1) and Josie Maran (2) fit the bill.

Rosebud Salve (4) is a great multipurpose beauty remedy. You can rub this into cuticles, onto dry lips, elbows, and knee. It can even be used to soothe minor burns (perfect for when a curling iron goes a little rogue).

My pedicure game isn't as strong during the winter (most of the time my feet are wrapped in thick socks + boots), but that isn't an excuse for rough heels and dry feet. This foot cream by Soap & Glory (5) smooths everything out.

Don't forget your face! It's exposed to the winter wind and the cold, too. Think about adding a face oil to your skin regimen. After washing your face, take a few drops of oil and rub your hands together before working the oil into your face and neck. I love Tarte's Pure Maracuja Oil because it moisturizes and helps brighten skin. A luminizing skin mask can also help fight dull winter skin. Boscia makes a good one- just don't let the black color scare you away! It's packed with minerals that soften and brighten skin.

Finally, buff dry lipped with a lip scrub to keep chapped lips from ruining your lipstick look. Fresh Sugar makes a great lip polish- and bonus: it's made with real brown sugar crystals, so resist the urge to lick your lips!   More tips for beautiful winter skin:
  • To treat rough, dry feet, apply a generous amount of foot cream and slip on a pair of cotton socks before going to bed. The socks help lock in the moisture (and keep your sheets clean). You'll wake up super soft.
  • Stash a few travel-sized hand creams in different places so you always have one nearby. I keep one in my purse, at my desk at work, next to the kitchen sink, and on my night stand in my bedroom. (A girl can't be too hydrated!)
  • Follow up a lip scrub with a super emollient lip balm. This pulls double-duty on the lip softening front in the war against chapped lips.

Happy moisturizing!
