RT @KING5Evening: Did you know @eddiebauer was the first to patent the quilted down coat in 1940? #funfact #K5Evening/p>
In 1953, an American team was attempting the first ascent of K2, the world’s second highest peak. Eddie designed a down mountaineering parka for them, the Kara Koram. Expedition Leader Charles Houston called the parka “The finest piece of high altitude equipment we have ever seen.”
Their legacy, and the Kara Koram parka, made Eddie Bauer America’s premiere expedition outfitter during the Golden Age of Himalayan Mountaineering.

This week we're introducing EB Originals.
Eddie Bauer was an original. It began with the first down jacket patented in America—the Skyliner— and continued with a line of revolutionary pieces that enabled generations to live their adventures. As we approach our 100-year anniversary, we're updating a number of Eddie's iconic designs that are more relevant today than ever.

"People might say to me 'You climbed Everest six times, so this challenge is no big deal.' But this was way harder than climbing Everest. Not physically, but emotionally. It was the craziest thing I’ve ever done in my life." - Melissa Arnot

One minute, she’s ripping a huge line in Alaska, the next she’s cracking the funniest joke you’ve ever heard. Lynsey Dyer talks about the early days of her skiing career:
Team Guide Adrian Ballinger's new project #ChoNoFilter has begun:
17,500 feet on the way to Cho Oyu Base Camp. It's only 60 hours since we left home in Tahoe and we're about to arrive in BC and start climbing! Smooth. And really happy for my microtherm keeping me warm through a shock to the system from rapid change of altitude and temperature!

It's said that the wind was born in the Andes; it only visits other places.
Torrecillas spires on an early morning pow day hike mission. Spines were freshly carved up by team snowboarder @wyattncaldwell and crew under the unreal dark blue sky of the southern hemisphere.

"Worn by the likes of Andy Mahre, KC Deane, and Drew Tabke, the jacket and pant kit hosts a freeride background unlike anything else in the Eddie Bauer snow sports line." - Unofficial Networks
Melissa Arnot is much more than just her heroics. Mountain magazine reports on what makes the accomplished climber so interesting.
Great behind-the-scenes look at how team alpinist Adrian Ballinger is preparing for his next high-altitude objective.
We're proud to support American Forests in protecting and restoring threatened forest ecosystems. As part of The One Tree Initiative, we’re now donating up to 25,000 trees to American Forests – and all you have to do is hug a tree.
Here's how you can help plant 50 trees with a single hug: http://www.eddiebauer.com/onetree
Join Eddie Bauer Team Freeskier Drew Tabke as he gives a walking tour of his Southern Hemisphere home base, Farellones, Chile. Filled with smiling locals, friendly street-wise dogs and big, snowy peaks, Farellones is the oldest ski resort in Chile and keeps Tabke coming back each summer.
Embedded in the DNA of all skiers and #snowboarders is the urge to never really let go of winter. Some follow their internal primal migratory urges and know to fulfill this, they need to fly south during the North American summer and dive into winter in the Andes, South American style. This week, we check in with various Eddie Bauer Guides & Athletes as they have returned from another summer session. Ski Guide Reggie Crist has made the pilgrimage south countless times and can lead the charge down to an asado faster than you can say "mas raspido!".
