Hey lovelies! Did you get a chance to see The Great Gatsby movie? Well, I did… and it was simply SPECTACULAR!!! And, unless you’ve been away studying glacial shifts off the coast of Greenland the past few months, you’re well aware of the buzz surrounding this fabulous film. I absolutely LOVE Gatsby!!! After all, it has everything that we go to the movies for… There’s plenty of suspense, a bit of drama, some laughter, a whole lot of passion, and love, love, love. There’s even a few high speed car chases for those who desire a little action. :-D Oh, and don’t get me started on that fabulous 20’s era fashion throughout the movie…Gasp & Faint!!! All that style and pizzazz…It would be very difficult for any fashionista not to become a little wide-eyed with all of that glitz and glam sashaying across the big screen. Of course, there’s Gatsby’s leading lady Daisy Buchanan who is the definition of deco decadence with her gorgeous gowns, sparkling jewels, and fabulous flapper fashion. I simply can’t get enough of this film! From the gorgeous landscapes to the fashion, there’s just so much to love about Gatsby. So in honor of The Great Gatsby and the fabulous fashion of the Roaring 20’s, here are a few era-inspired pieces to jazz up your wardrobe.

As the weather warms up, you may be looking into your closet and simply staring in confusion. What to wear? What to put away? What will work for the new season? This year, instead of spending lots of money on spring pieces, why not make your winter wardrobe do double duty? It really shouldn't be too tough, since mixing fabrics and textures is the name of the game this spring.

But beware: when mixing textures, limit yourself to just one heavy garment, and make sure all of the other pieces in your ensemble compliment one another, so everything ties together nicely. Still not sure on what to keep? Well, here are five ways to do it right:

1. Layering Pieces                                                                                                                                                                        Don just one of your favorite layering pieces and pair it with spring shoes, pants, or skirts. Avoid chunky sweaters and thick wools -- even in a sleeveless shell, these will make you miserable in the heat.

Cropped Pants                                                                                                                                                                           Try cold-weather cropped pants -- yes, even the winter-weight wool pieces -- with strappy sandals and a light, playful top.

 4. Winter Whites                                                                                                                                                                         These whites and creams come in heavier fabrics and are a great way to transition from cold to warm. The light hues will fit right in with this spring's sailor stripes and flirty florals, and the winter textures will add a little dimension to your ensemble. 

5.Accessories                                                                                                                                                                                  Pair your flirty new spring skirts and dresses with bare legs, mid-calf boots, and a skinny scarf, and you'll look like you bought an entire wardrobe just for the transition period.

1. Primary Colors
While electric shades dominated the runways last spring, straightforward pops of primary will lighten up the color trend this spring. Try coordinating your look with a fun pair of colorful (solid or patterned) shoes to enhance & embrace the spring time style.

2. Military
You’ll always be in style if you add a little military to your wardrobe. It’s an enduring trend in men’s clothing that never really leaves because it’s always masculine and very cool. Whether you choose the camouflage shorts, the olive tone vests, or a casual canvas jacket, the key to rocking the military movement is the fit. So leave those oversized fatigues from the Army/Navy store in the attic and aim for some of these.

3. Bold Accessories
Designers really went after this trend with neon kicks, unique hand-painted details, and bags big enough to fit your entire bag collection. For you, start small to liven up your look in a big way, or if you’re accessory shy, take it down a notch and make it your own with the simple addition of a bright watch,colored (or glow in the dark) shoelaces, or a shocking pair of shades.

4. Shorts Suits                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         

Cool, calm, clean, and comfortable...this sporty style trend is ideal for the mogul on move, or the style setter stepping out. You can even pair a nice blazer with a cool pair of chino shorts for a different, more eclectic look. So show some skin and let your legs breathe & collect some sun rays this season! For a complete look, try wearing a spiffy pair of boat shoes.

5. Stripes
Stripes streaked across some unexpected places for spring! Embrace it this spring...even if it’s a pattern you can get behind, like any other trend, play it safe by limiting yourself to one or two striped pieces, or by sticking with a simple lightly pinstriped suit.

I’m super excited about the latest additions to the Phipps Plaza roster! Shops such as Agent Provocateur, Trina Turk, Jack Rogers, and the newly renovated Cole Haan will be opening their doors this coming summer 2013 and Atlanta shoppers will be in for a fashion treat. Atlanta summers’ are known to be sizzling hot, and the addition of these fabulous shops will definitely raise this summers’ heat index to record levels. Want to know more about these fab retailers? Here’s my take of just what you can expect.

Agent Provocateur, world-famous for their uber-sexy intimates, will turn up the Atlanta heat as they peel back the velvet curtains to their newest store at Phipps Plaza this summer. This London-based retailer of luxury lingerie, swimwear, nightwear, and a host of other girly goodies looks to ‘entice’ Atlanta shoppers with their sexy-lux style of intimate apparel. I absolutely love, Love, LOVE their collection! With its pinup-era pizzazz, girl-next-door-demure, and burlesque sex appeal, Agent Provocateur is simply too alluring to not want to indulge.

There are few retailers that can effortlessly deliver the sassiest styles each season…and then there’s Trina Turk. Atlanta shoppers will bask on the “sunny side of chic” and delight at Turk’s Palm Springs Chic/Cali-mod (California-modern) style of women’s apparel, accessories, and home décor. Trina Turk even carries a fab collection of menswear (yep). With a plethora of bright, bold, and fabulously fun prints, Trina Turk will no doubt paint the Atlanta fashion landscape a vivid (insert any dazzling color of your choice here).

American in spirit, Jack Rogers was born out of resort style but has evolved into a lifestyle collection of year-round pieces. Jack Rogers offers fabulous beach-chic footwear and handbags for women who want to experience a little slice of the weekend getaway life. With inspired beginnings, Jack Rogers has been a warm weather essential for women since the 1960’s when fashion icon Jackie Kennedy first slipped on a pair of these chic sandals in Capri. Fast forward some 50+ summers into the present and now Atlanta-nistas will get to shop (and rock) these timeless treasures.

A staple in footwear folklore for nearly a century, Cole Haan is revamping their Phipps Plaza location just in time for the summer.
