See's Candy Scientist Q&A for April is here! Ask us your questions, and we'll answer our favorite next time. This month's question: It is great to hear your candies are American-made. Where exactly is the factory? Actually, there is not one, but three American factories where See’s Candies cooks up its delicious confections. In 1921, the first factory was established in the city of Pasadena. As the company grew, the factory moved to Los Angeles where our famous Brittles, Caramels, Molasses Chips, Krispys, Sugar Free pieces and marshmallow pieces are still made to this day. This plant also produces small amounts of Bonbons, Soft Centers, Nut Clusters and Fudge. In the 1940’s, a second plant was built in South San Francisco. This plant specializes in Truffles, Soft Centers, and Squares, (Peanut, Walnut, and Almond). It also produces small amounts of Brittles, Caramels, Bonbons, Nut Clusters and Fudge. If you’ve been keeping track, you know we haven’t mentioned our lollypops yet! Our lollypops were originally produced in the South San Francisco factory, but in 1995 a dedicated Lollypop Plant was established in Burlingame. Though this plant is small in comparison, it is responsible for producing all of See’s yummy lollypops and Little Pops. http://www.simon.com/mall/woodfield-mall/stream/sees-candies-439055 See's Candies
