Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

 

This position is responsible for managing civil and environmental engineering issues related to new project development, property expansions and renovations, and other construction projects within the Company.

  

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITES:

 

The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

 

  • Direct Technical Consultants – Interview, select and direct technical consultants and design engineers to ensure design quality and timeliness of civil and environmental issues meet the needs of the Company and are acceptable to department stores, lending institutions, partners, and public regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinate Right-to-Build Issues – Work with development staff, local legal counsel and other consultants to identify development / construction issues, recommend solutions, and to obtain the right-to-build projects.  Work includes site feasibility studies, environmental and geotechnical investigations, traffic and parking studies, landscaping, utility evaluations, and conceptual site planning. Participate in public zoning and other hearings and meetings with regulatory review agencies as Company representative to secure desired outcome.
  • Coordinate Approvals – Coordinate submittal of engineering documents for sitework, utilities, and roadways to appropriate regulatory review agencies for approval, and work to resolve differences and secure timely approval.
  • Coordinate Intradepartmental Design – Coordinate engineering documents with other design elements and other departments within the Company to ensure adequate overall design and a minimum of construction conflicts, and work to resolve conflicts as they arise.
  • Manage Funds – Prepare project budgets, commitments of funds, and contracts in a timely and accurate manner.  Process invoices from consultants / contractors and monitor expenditures of committed funds within project budgets and according to Company procedures.
  • Coordinate Existing Property Issues – Work with existing properties to address special site engineering and related technical concerns.  Provide technical recommendations to management and Company representatives as necessary.
  • Reporting – Provide project updates and reports as required.

 


MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

 

·         Working knowledge of all aspects of civil and environmental engineering, land surveying, and other segments of engineering related to land development and property management.

·         Knowledge of retail development principles and procedures to gain the right-to-build retail projects.

·         Effective written and verbal communication and organizational skills with attention to detail.

 

Required Experience and Education:

 

·         Bachelor degree in Engineering.

·         Seven (7) years engineering experience in civil and environmental engineering field, site planning, and design.

·         Four (4) years experience supervising projects and / or managing work products of other engineers.
