Global leisure giant Merlin Entertainment, the company behind such iconic brands as Madame Tussauds Wax Museum and LEGOLAND, will build the $15 million SEA LIFE Arizona, to be located at Entry 1 in the former Hi Health space. More than a standard aquarium, SEA LIFE Aquarium will immerse guests in an interactive, educational and fun aquarium experience while increasing awareness of the importance of safeguarding the sea and its inhabitants. SEA LIFE Aquarium will provide an educational and interactive dynamic unlike any other. Featuring play zones, fun facts and quiz trails, SEA LIFE is designed to be a child’s guide to the life of the sea.
As guests explore the 27,000 square-foot Aquarium, they’ll discover over 30 displays holding more than 250,000 gallons of water. Key features throughout the various themed rooms include the Discovery Zone, where guests interact with marine life experts, touch tide pool animals and take an inside look at the lives of sea creatures from special pop-up viewing stations; the Shoaling Ring, where guests are surrounded 360 degrees by schools of swimming fish; and the Ray Lagoon where several species of rays appear to “fly” through the water in Mayan temple ruins. Key creatures include sharks, rays, jellyfish, seahorses, an octopus and several species of freshwater fish as well cold water marine animals.
